Leak in the upstairs bathroom!

July 6th, 2006 at 05:46 pm

There is a leak in the upstairs bathroom shower. Now I have to find it. So the upstairs bathroom save for the toilet and sink is out of commission.

I just finished fixing the upstairs toilet! The darn problems never end! Hopefully the issue is something I can resolve myself without spending too much money.

Good luck Paul! Nobody wants to feed the "pit" (ie.. house). Do you have any of those Time/Life fix it books or are you handy this way?

When we had a leaky toilet, hubby went to the local hardware store in town, rather than the Home Depot. Might have cost him a few more in parts, but the personal service he received was great! The guy knew just what the problem was, and explained exactly how to fix it. Good luck with your problem...

Fixing the toilet was easy. It was just a matter of replacing the flush valve inside as well as the flapper. The only problem is the tight area I had to work in.

The shower has to be regrouted. I need to seal around the base and I have to check the drain. Once grouted I need to seal the grout. I will be doing this after I return from vacation. I also need to change the washers on the valves. It is not hard to do it is just time consuming.

If the plumbing or electrical is complex I leave it to the professionals who are licensed and insured. I don't have the Time/Life books but I do have some books on repairs.

Well, Home Depot has online instructions for quite a few things...don't need to purchase there to go online.
