Wife has no new Credit Cards

August 19th, 2006 at 05:35 am

Well, I am a bit ashamed of myself. I have been spying on my wife to make sure there are no new credit cards. The good news is there appear to be no new cards.
Maybe we have turned a corner. I sure hope so!

My daughter is out west with my sister on a free vacation trip. The whole thing was free. My sister is very generous. I could never have afforded the trip for my DD.

The doctors have determined that I am pre-diabetic and have to make a very large lifestyle change. It is so easy to tall but it is much harder to accomplish. I am always eating junk on the run. Now I have to be very concious of diet and exercise.

The wife is still clipping coupons and I have had several no spend days on a regular basis each week.

The DW's CC bill is at the halfway point and I am looking for ways to add more money to pay it off sooner. I hate being in debt to the CC company. I also noticed that they have changed the interest rate so I am looking to see if I can do some sort of balance transfer.

MIL law may have a relapse of her leukemia. I hope she does not as that will be a great stressor on my wife.

Life goes on and I thank God for each day.

My father was diabetic and now my older brother is (type 2), so I worry about it also. I try to maintain a low carb diet, but still need to work on the exercise. You have to do it now! You can do it!

I'm happy that they caught it early, because it's likely you can prevent it, or at least stave it off for awhile, with your changes to diet and exercise. And I'm glad that DW is behaving herself, for your sake. Keep hanging in there!

Sounds like you are winning with the cc debt!

I am trying to watch the carbs and get in plenty of exercise. Hopefully it does not become full blown.

Have you looked at the South Beach diet? Very easy to follow - a lot of emphasis on cutting out white sugar, white flour, sticking to whole grains, lots of veggies and lean meats. I didn't have a blood sugar problem, but I do have mildly high cholesterol and some extra weight from two pregnancies. I was able to lose the weight easily and I cut my triglycerides in half (slightly over 100 to in the 50's in a few months) after starting this diet. Just thought I would throw that out there - the book was written by a cardiologist and has a lot of great info in it. In true frugal style, I checked it out of the library when I was considering the diet rather than buy the book! Anyway, good luck with everything. I really enjoy hearing your comments on my blog Smile
