High Blood Pressure.

January 28th, 2007 at 08:15 am

Well, I have been diagnosed with high blood pressure. They have put me on Toprol. Oh well!

No major expenses since the washing machine and dryer.

I have been on the forums trying to say a few things here and there but my heart is not in it right now.

Bills are in good shape and wife has not run up any new ones and I have not either.

Hope everyone here is doing well.

Will check back in when my head is in a better frame.

Hubster takes Toprol - I think he gets his at Walmart on their $4 dealyplan. ??I THINK?? Anyway, you might want to check it out. He's snoozing right now or I'd ask him.

I was just wondering where you've been - I was afraid you abandoned us now that you paid off your debt!

Sorry to hear you're not feeling well. Take care of yourself and feel better...

Maybe we should start a "Weight Loss Challenge"! I could stand to loose about 15 pounds!
Maybe you have the January "Blahs". I have been feeling a little down lately too. Cheer up, you're debt free!

Yeah debt free is nice but the Doctor was telling me I am a candidate for diabetes, heart attack, and much worse. It was really depressing. I guess I am feeling kind of sorry for myself. I really have to get this weight off!

Go for it! Think of the weight loss as helping to improve your health. You can do it!

I am fighting off high blood pressure too!
Just don't try the Atkins diet! My DH lost tons of weight on it and then had a heart attack (at 37)! After a 6 way bypass he is on Toporol among other things!
Just start out small, by eating less and psyching yourself out so that you eat less often. You will be surprised that this starts to work without the so called "dieting". And ease into just a little exercise, park father away from places, take the dog for a walk (or get one and take it for a walk, pets are supposed to help with high blood pressure too! )
    Good luck buddy!

I have been taking the bike out for small rides. I have to watch the salt and a great many of the things I love to eat. I guess living is better than eating garbage. If I have a major illness I am sure to lose income. That cannot be as I can't afford that just yet in my life. So I guess it is getting serious with the diet, weight, food, and exercise.

boomeyers, I was warned off the Atkins because I was told it can put a strain on the kidneys. I am going to ease into healthier life choices. I hope your husband feels better. That heart attack had to be one of the scariest thing you and your husband have experienced.

I hope you are feeling better. Jan & Feb. are the worst months of the year. Maybe you have the winter blues.

I went on blood pressure medicine and arthritis medicine at the same time about eight years ago. My youngest was 1, and I was only 35, but how worn out and old I felt! I was down, and I was mad at myself, esp. about the bp. At every checkup, I'd ask if I could be off the bp med yet, until one time my doctor asked why I'd want to be off something that was keeping my bp where it was supposed to be. She was right. The arthritis med was a different story, as I felt like I got my life back - I had decreased pain, and could move - not perfect, but so much better. I'm not what I'm trying to say, except that such news is a shock, but it will get better. Hey, with the challenge you've gone through money-wise this past year, there is no doubt you'll do the same with whatever you set your mind to. Best wishes for your good health!

LittleGopher, thanks for the reality check. I should be thankful that I can afford medication to keep my bp normal. I am going to get down to a good weight! If I can get rid of debt then why not weight. In the end it will not only save my life but a ton of money as well.

moneycents, thank you for the good wishes. The cold and the dark are not the best for my morale.

I will keep on keepin on though! Thanks gang!

Hmm. My family has a history of high blood pressure. I haven't checked mine for a long time now, and it's probably time for me to. Thanks for reminding me, and take care!
