Still Chugging/Head above water!

July 25th, 2008 at 11:02 pm

I am still out of debt and I am saving every penny that I possibly can. It just seems that no matter how much I save or scrimp or work I never get too far ahead in the finances.

It feels that I am carrying a weight on my shoulders. Work is slowing down and boy are prices going up! The prices on some things stay the same while the amount you get shrinks! It sure takes the wind out of your sales when you work so hard to accumulate some wealth!

Gas through the rough....groceries through the roof.....taxes through the roof.....clothes, medical care, etc......everything going through the roof.

I am still chugging after all this time but I feel one heck of an undertow trying to drag me down!

It is nice to drop in. My prediciton of 4 dollar gas came true I am sad to say. Watch the credit crunch that is coming and is developing as we speak.

I think things are going to get a whole lot tighter in the coming months. Damn politicians of all stripes. They don't care! They simply don't get it! Let's throw them all out! This chrisis did not happen overnight! Where are the regulators? Who us watching out for the little guys like us?

In any case it is nice to check in!

Hey...at least some of us are watching out for ourselves. We are spending within our budget and investing for the long term, how many government entities can say that?

    Good to hear from you!

Its tough, I agree. I feel like my net worth is going nowhere. But at least its not going down, and at least we're not in debt and at least sunshine and affection and goodwill are still free.

It doesn't help any when we're filling your gas tank or our stomachs, but its does help when we think of others who have serious debt and have no savings. The storm is coming, we have to batten down the hatches...but we have the hatches to batten down.

I feel much the same way. I'm out of debt, but really struggling not to get back into it.

It is feels great stopping back in here. I think some serious financial seas are ahead for a great many of us. It is time to really batten down the hatches for the approaching storm that is coming!

Welcome back Paul, I have missed you. It is so good that most of us have saving to fall back on. My husband is a builder and he may not have any work next year, but I know we will get by ok!! Some of my friends have gone to far in debt in building, and i don't know if they will make it thru the tough times ahead.

Thanks for the welcome back Julie! I hope the housing mess clears up and does not affect you and your husband too much.

I hope your friends make out okay. So many have gotten hurt by the housing downturn! It is good to hear from you!

I was so surprised when I saw your latest blogging. It's good to hear from you again.

Yes, many are in the same boat. Can you imagine what happens when people are in debt and don't savings to fall back on.

I can recall some telling me that I should spend more money and not save. Letting me know that I could die tomorrow; by thoughts are more on "what if I live tomorrow" and spent today.

Well, well, well, the absent one returns! Hope to see you on the forums, too, Smile
I think you are right about tougher times coming. So many problems are coming together at the same time--the real estate market, the credit market, the prices for oil and its products, the stock market, commodities market, food prices, water issues, natural disasters, the wars abroad....uhhhh!
