Been a while since I posted. I still live frugally. Old habits are hard to break! LOL!!
I still try to have as many no spend days as possible. Went to free concerts put on by the town this summer. Using the library to the fullest. Heck, I pay taxes so I should get my moneys worth. I can get free films to watch and there are different events that are free.
I also look fro community events that are free or darn near so.
I cannot believe that this blog is over 11 years old now. I have come far in that time.
My motto is still, "use it up, wear it out, make due, do without"! I am still a firm believer in out of debt out of danger.
Maybe I'll post a little more often...
Checking in....

As one of the CC users that pay total charges by due date every month, I really like the 'cash back' feature being offered by various card grantors. I wonder if other SA participants have joined the ranks of 'jugglers' using cards with 5% cash back for different products 'play the game,' or continue with their favoured direct or cheque payment of regular purchases like utilities, gas, groceries etc.
We are looking at numbers for retirement and wonder whether the numbers suggested by the marketers are realistic. What do you think? Are you content with your long term picture?

I have only one credit card and I have it because one cannot rent a hotel room or a car without one. I always pay in full and the programs have little impact on me. (They are nice but not necessary ). I don't like to use cards but carrying large sums of cash is impractical. I believe a credit card is a necessary evil. I do not like using credit unless absolutely necessary.
As for retirement, well, you save as much as you can, and you live below your means. That is my future plan. The house and cars are paid off. I have all I need to be comfortable. I just need to pay taxes and utilities along with general expenses of day to day living.
In terms of saving money I believe more is always better. I am rather sanguine about my retirement prosecutes as long as the Mrs. does not try to break the bank.
CreditCardFree,
That is a great saying but I cannot take credit for it. My pithy saying has always been, "use it up, wear it out, make due, do without"!
My other pithy aphorism is "out of debt, out of danger".
I really do miss this place. I think I'll be stopping by more often. :-)

Sounds like you are living your budget consciousness in retirement like you did before you retired. We are trying to do the same.
